Wall Of Heros

Featured here are three individuals who served in various capacities in support of Federal City Associates. They have impacted people in ways that should be remembered and respected. We would like to commemorate their contributions to society and to Federal City Associates.

DeVengencie-Janice

Ms.  Janice E. DeVengencie

Ms. DeVengencie worked as an assembler and inspector for more than 22 years in the Packard Electric Division of General Motors, Inc., and she lived in Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and the District of Columbia.  The mother of a U.S. Navy Vietnam era veteran, she also was the sister of two U.S. Army Cold War era veterans.  For more than 20 years, she supported the following veterans’ organizations: the VFW of the USA, the PVA, Veterans Outreach of Youngstown, Ohio, and the DAV.  She also promoted the efforts of the Help Network of Northeastern Ohio and Meridian Services of Mahoning County in assisting others.  Supporting family values in her own way, Ms. DeVengencie  took care of family members and others, sometimes as a Hospice Volunteer.  Finally, she served as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Federal City Associates, from 2019 to 2020.

Edward-Zipeto

Mr. Edward A. Zipeto

An Army Vietnam theatre veteran who secured a Purple Heart Award while serving in the Southeast Asian theatre, Mr. Zipeto continued his life of service to his country and fellow citizens by providing help for the rest of his life.  Despite having had to give up a dream of becoming a priest in the Roman Catholic Church, he persevered in a life of continued service while getting his Bachelors’ degree from the Oblate College in Washington, DC.  And thus, over a period of almost forty years Mr. Zipeto held paid positions with Goodwill Industries, the Boy Scouts, the United Way as a Loaned Executive to the United Way of the Tonawandas, the American Red Cross, the Associated Catholic Charities in Washington, DC, ARCH Family Services Corporation, Community Development Aid for the Maryland Energy Assistance Program, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  Furthermore, he did volunteer work thru his efforts with the Boy Scouts, Muscular Dystrophy of Western New York, the Delaware YMCA of Buffalo, NY, the HIV/AIDS visiting assistance of the Coalition of Homeless and Housing Organizations of Washington, DC, the Metropolitan Washington Homeless Veterans Council, his local Parish Council, the Maryland Democratic Underground Groups, and as the Vice-President of Federal City Associates, from 2020 until his death in 2021.

Stanley ned

Mr. Stanley “Ned” Jaros

He was a Vietnam era veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Navy.  Having secured his Bachelor's and Masters’ degrees in Urban and Regional Planning and other related areas, “Ned” then gave of himself to his country and fellow citizens in many ways while working in a variety of capacities for numerous agencies and entities.  They included the office of former U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the Omega Rose Foundation, the Mahoning County Homeless Coalition (the first Standdown there for Homeless Veterans), the Veterans and Military Families for Progress, the American Legion, and the Metropolitan Washington Homeless Veterans Council (the first 2 Standdowns there for Homeless Veterans).  Finally, he served as the Washington, DC Registered Agent for Federal City Associates. from 2007 until his death in 2016.
